Lecturer scores Akufo-Addo’s performance “very well”

January 2, 2019

File: Veep [R] with President Akufo-Addo [L]
Political analyst, Dr. Ahmed Jinapor, has scored the Akufo-Addo government “very well” in its performance for the two years that it has been governing the country.

According to him, Ghana’s economy has been impressive, though he admitted there were many challenges such as high cost of living and high unemployment rate.

Though he said there is still more work to be done by the government, it has to be acknowledged for its good job done in the last two years.

“The economy is doing very well; looking at the rate of inflation, even though there have been  depreciation of the cedi, it is not that high and I think he [Akufo-Addo] needs to be applauded for that’’ he said.

While stating that there were corruption scandals within the two years of Akufo-Addo’s government, he said the government’s performance in fighting corruption was not impressive, hence need to do more on that.

Dr. Jinapor who is a lecturer at the University of Education in Winneba indicated it is noteworthy that an individual cannot fight corruption alone and would require a concerted effort.Meanwhile, he said the government’s one village, one dam policy is not realistic, stating “a country like Ghana does not need a one district one factory policy since the policy’s main concern was to solve unemployment… Ghana needs alternatives that would alleviate us from this unemployment.

“It is not possible for the government to build a one district one factory within four or eight years in power because it is not realistic,” he indicated.

Dr. Jinapor also advised the National Democratic congress not bag its hopes on the failure of the government as a means the surest way of wining back power, indicating Ghanaians would not assess the government based on a fulfillment on all its promises.
