Asante Kotoko captain Emmanuel Gyamfi has been charged with misconduct by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following his clash with Inter Allies’ Andy Okpe during the Ghana Premier League encounter on Monday.
The attacker is alleged to have stamped Okpe in the second half of the thrilling match at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.
While the incident was missed by match officials, it was captured by television cameras and the GFA has taken action.
According to the GFA, Gyamfi’s alleged stamp is a breach of Article 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, 2019.
Gyamfi, with 8 goal contributions this season (scoring 4 and assisting 4) has until close of work Friday, June 18 respond to the charge.
Kotoko fans fear Gyamfi could be banned, with the club set to face Hearts of Oak, in what could be the title decider, after their next game against Karela United.
The Porcupine Warriors are level on points with Hearts following Monday’s 3-2 win over Allies. However, Kotoko are second due to Hearts’ superior goal difference.
