A total of 101 suspected internet fraudsters and drug dealers have been arrested by the Police in Kasoa in the Central Region.
They were arrested in four separate swoops in and around Kasoa, namely Obom, Akweley, Adade and Gomoa Nyanyano Wednesday by the Kasoa Divisional Police Command.
The police retrieved from them one pump action gun with live catridges, 126 laptops, 40 mobile phones, nine passports, internet moderms, unspecified amount of money and 11 wrappers of Indian hemp.
“These persons had furnished large rooms in all these areas, where they have tables and computers lined up like you would find in the internet center and that is how they operate and scam people,” the Kasoa Police Commander, ACP David Adjem said.
He observed the Kasoa town was turning into an internet fraud centre but warned the Police was taking drastic action including swoops to fish them out of their various abode.
ACP Adjem said some foreign nationals were among those arrested in the swoop, and said they will notify the embassies of their respective country to let them know the action to be taken against them
“With the foreign nationals involved, we will let their embassies know and proper action will be taken,” he said.The suspect, he said will be screened and after investigations process them for court
Meanwhile, 20 other persons suspected to have attacked some police personnel and vandalized a police vehicle at Awutu -Breku in the Awutu Senya District have also been arrested.
Some 20 motor bikes were retrieved from the suspected criminals.
