It’s challenging wearing a crown – Miss Ghana-UK

For many ladies, becoming a beauty queen is a dream-come-true considering the prestige, perks and other opportunities it presents, but according to the 2018 Miss Ghana-UK beauty queen, Akua Ohenewaa Anim, there’s more to the coveted crown than meets the eye.

From her experience, being a beauty queen is challenging and once a person is crowned, the responsibilities become huge.

“It is a whole lot of work. To think that I don’t live a normal life, it is challenging,” she told Giovani Caleb on the 3FM Drive Wednesday.

She said walking around with the crown all the time championing for projects is no easy job.

Ms. Anim said she is currently pursuing a project on mental health in the UK , which is aimed at empowering young women who are challenged.

Also, she is soliciting for funds to support orphanages and street kids in Ghana.

“I started a foundation that raised funds to build a primary school in Adukrom in the East Region of Ghana where I come from,” she added.

Having ventured into commercial real estate business years before becoming a beauty queen, Ms Anim expressed her love for education and hinted of going back to it.

On the kind of Ghanaian music she enjoys, Akua told Giovani that anything from the music maestro Kojo Antwi and Kwesi Arthur is a favourite to her.
