‘Investigations backward’ will point to Ken Agyapong – Amaliba on Ahmed’s murder

January 22, 2019

Kennedy Agyapong

Fingers have been pointed at Kennedy Agyapong over his call to have Ahmed Hussein-Suale beaten

A legal advisor with the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Amaliba, has admitted that Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, cannot be directly connected with the shooting of Ahmed Hussein-Suale.

But he contends strongly that “when you do the investigations backward,” the lawmaker would have questions to answer.

The private legal practitioner said when the shooters are arrested and they mention the MP’s name, he would have a lot of questions to answer.

Mr Amaliba was speaking on TV3’s New Day on Tuesday as regards the seeming collective call to have the talkative MP picked up over the death of the investigative journalist.

The Minority in Parliament on Monday called on law-enforcement agencies to arrest and consequently prosecute Mr Agyapong for his utterances in the thick of the 2018 exposé by Tiger Eye PI, of which the deceased was a key member.

A US Congressman, Henry Hank Johnson Jnr, has also written to the Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, to slap sanctions on Mr Agyapong.

Speaking on the morning show, Mr Amaliba said the suggestion of the representative of Georgia’s 4th congressional district to have the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) involved should serve as a “bait if we are actually interested in investigating this matter”.

“This is a matter I think that we can ask for the assistance from the FBI.”

The police in Ghana on Monday announced that investigations have been scaled up as former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi has already been interrogated.

A statement, the police also confirmed, has been taken from Mr Agyapong.

Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku Constituency Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, who was also on the show, said the police appear to be on top of the matter especially as regards updates.

He rejected talks that the president and his government have not shown commitment to have the crime investigated.

Ahmed Hussein-Suale was killed last Wednesday on his way home in Madina.

He was shot thrice – twice in the chest and once in the neck.

He has since been buried.
