I’m still NPP’s 2nd Vice Chair, I don’t recognise NEC – Sammy Crabbe

The suspended second vice chairman of the New Patriotic Party – NPP, Sammy Crabbe has given the strongest indication yet the he is still at post as the second vice chair and does not recognise the meeting that suspended him.

He indicated that the group that met to take the decision to suspend him were made up of friends who have issues with him hence their decision. He added that he does not recognise the committee that met to take the decision saying “the body that met was not the national executive committee.

“The Disciplinary Committee met and I recognise them but I do not recognise the body that met yesterday and their jurisdiction over this matter and I have pointed it out in Article 4(3D) and Article 10.

Speaking to Accra based radio Joy Fm Mr. Crabbe said “NEC is not just people meeting. It has to be legally and properly constituted.

“The way to constitute NEC is laid out in our constitution. You can start a process, eat into it, create an illegality and push it down the throat of people… It can’t happen.

“… Nana Addo being there doesn’t make it a NEC meeting. If there’s a cabinet meeting at the flagstaff house and you have all the cabinet ministers available and it is not convened by President Mahama, it is not a cabinet meeting.”

Mr. Crabbe’s suspension comes on the back of a petition filed to the leadership of the party after which the Disciplinary Committee of the party met to recommend his suspension.

The Disciplinary Committee’s decision was upheld by the National Executive Meeting after a marathon meeting on Thursday.

He however indicated that “if anybody tries to stop me from performing my duties either through machoism or any other means I’d take that person on. I’d report to the appropriate authorities and even seek a restraining order.”

Mr. Crabbe also said he and Mr. Afoko – the suspended chairman have been working in the background for the NPP.
