The Overall Best HR Organization of the year, Unilever Ghana displaying their awards[/caption]
President of the Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners (IHRMP), Mr. John Wilson has explained that the Ghana HR Star Awards was established to develop human resource management in Ghana.
The awards held over the weekend also celebrated excellence in human resource and recognized institutions and individuals who are contributing to the development of the practice. Individuals and institutions in both public and private sectors were recognized for exhibiting best practices in HR.
It was under the theme ”human capital and national development”. Best organization in employee relations practice; best organization in learning and development practice; and most successful change management programme are some of the 12 categories that were recognized.

Others include best organization in recruitment and selection; best workplace diversity strategy; best talent management strategy; best organization in performance management, most promising public sector organization in the use of ICT; and HR practitioner of the year.
The Chairman of the National Labor Commission, Edward Briku- Boadu, urged HR practitioners to take training and retraining of their workers seriously.
Unilever Ghana was adjudged the overall best organization in HR practice. They also received Best Organization in Learning & Development Practice award, Best Talent Management Strategy award and Best use of CSR in HR award.

Head of HR of Tullow Ghana, Irene Asare, won the HR Practitioner of the Year
Guinness Ghana Brewery Limited received three awards: Best Workplace Diversity Strategy award, Most Innovative Use of Technology award and Best Organization in Employee Relations Practice.
Other award recipients are: Barclays Bank for Best Organization in Rewards Management Practice, and Best Organization in Performance Management; HFC Bank for Most Successful Change Management Programme; Graphic Communications Group was awarded Best Organization in Recruitment and Selection. The Ghana Prisons Service as well as other institutions were also recognized.
