Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has lashed out at persons spreading reports that he would move the country’s capital city from Accra to Kyebi, his hometown, if he becomes president.
Nana Akufo-Addo stated emphatically that he cannot within his power change what has been bequeathed Ghanaians for over a 100 years: the movement of the capital from Cape Coast to Accra.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Accra-based Peace FM on Friday, December 2, the three-time presidential candidate expressed surprise as to how some people – he suspects are within the ruling party – will be propagating such reports about him.

“It is just like when [Ex-President John] Kufuor was said to have hatched a plan to move the sea from Accra to Kumasi,” he said.
“Why do you do that?” he wondered.
Nana Akufo-Addo said “it is a pity that those we are competing” are denigrating the levels of the contest, revealing he has greater vision for Ghana.
He said his is not a “limited, narrow vision” that will see a president bringing development to only people of his line or hometown.
That if you are from Bole, he alluded, you do Bole stuff.
He advised Ghanaians to ignore the rumours and look forward to a president who will be proud of having raised the standard of living to be tagged a “show boy”.
