Camidoh’s Sugarcane remix featuring Nigeria’s Mayorkun, British rapper Darkoo and Ghana’s own King Promise is def the flavour of the season.
For Camidoh, his remix is a dream come true. He disclosed the plan on TV3 NewDay, where he spoke about his commitment to have an international remix once the original shot off.
“I said I wanted to cross over to Nigeria and do a feature on my record. So yeah, I pushed for it and made it happen. Shout out to King Promise, Mayorkun and Darkoo for coming through,” he confessed to Johnnie Hughes.
Sugarcane remix with its medley of talents from all over the globe, one can only imagine the herculean task involved in the planning and executing such a masterpiece. Contrary to speculations, Camidoh revealed the ease with which his colleagues joined and the smooth execution of the project.
“First day after I put out this record, I said I wanted to do a Nigerian remix. And Mayorkun was one guy I have connected with the circumstances under which he came out. So, I wanted to have Mayorkun.
“But with the rest, King Promise and Darkoo, they said this record id beautiful. We are ready to go if you are ready. So it wasn’t stressful at all. We shot both in Ghana and Nigeria. It took some time to plan, but when we were ready to shoot, we shot in 3 days.”
The remix of the popular Afrobeats song, Sugarcane, made an entrance with over 800 views within 24hours of its video release. Camidoh says this is neither luck nor chance. But a sheer determination to work for what you want.
“Once you make efforts for your music to get into another territory and the people over there are loving the music and in tune with what you are doing, it reflects in the numbers. I was up all night. We were doing a lot of activities to make sure that people get to see the video,” he emphasized.
