The referendum on the creation of the Ahafo, Bono East, North East, Oti, Savannah, and Western North regions ended Thursday with a massive ‘Yes’ vote by residents in the affected areas.

In all the areas, the electorates made sure they exceeded the 80 per cent votes required for the successful creation of the regions, with some recording as high as 99.7 per cent.

Per the 1992 constitution, President Nana Akufo-Addo is enjoined to issue a Constitutional Instrument to give effect to the creation of the new regions to bring to 16, the total administrative regions in Ghana.
