Heartbroken Nana Addo cuts short Europe trip over death of NPP U/E chair

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akuffo Addo has cut short his trip to Europe to return to Ghana to sympathize with the family of the late Upper East regional chairman of the party who died from an acid attack.

Nana Addo described the death as “unfortunate and a sad day for the NPP”. In a voice message sent moments after the passing of the Adam Mahama, the flagbearer noted that its time for the party to “remain calm and responsible since the matter is in the hands of the police.”

He said “I am cutting short my trip to Europe to come back home to join everybody in the party and in the country to say goodbye to our fallen colleague and then would soon see what needs to be done within the party and outside to respond to the situation.”

Nana Addo who sounded quite disappointed said “I’m heartbroken, he’s a good friend of mine, was a very strong aid to former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, he was a strong party person…. It’s a sad day for the NPP.”

Adam Mahama was attacked Wednesday night by two men who poured acid on him. He was receiving treatment at the Bolga General Hospital where passed away.

There are speculations that the attack on him was a result of a meeting that was foiled in the region by some members of the NPP who did not agree with the National Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong who attempted organizing a meeting without his [Adam Mahama’s] knowledge.
