Medical supplies delivery company, Zipline, has said it will over the next four months open centres in two other regions to extend services to a lot more places in the country. According to the company, it has so far safely delivered over 20,000 units of blood, vaccines and critical medicines to patients in need at more than 350 health facilities from its Omenako and Mpanya centres. It added more that 4000 flights have made those deliveries, since its launch in Ghana. In expanding its services, the company says it “is deploying a brand-new generation of drone, which flies further, faster and can carry more medicine”. The company has also announced an ongoing “testing of flight safety features of the new drone”, which includes “parachute landing system”, an exercise expected to last for “several weeks”. This exercise, until a statement from the company clarified the issue, was reported as a crash.
