In a powerful and impactful initiative, renowned actress and author Yvonne Nelson has returned to her alma mater, St Martin de Porres School, to engage in a candid dialogue with students about the critical importance of sexual health awareness.

The event which took place at the St Martin de Porres campuses in Dansoman and Weija also saw the ‘I AM NOT YVONNE NELSON‘ author also shed light on the significance of abstaining from early and unprotected sexual activity to prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unplanned pregnancies.

This remarkable undertaking is a central pillar of Yvonne Nelson’s recently launched “The Real Tour,” a groundbreaking campaign aimed at educating young people in primary and secondary schools about the potential risks linked to premature and unsafe sexual practices.

Coming on the heels of her thought-provoking book, ‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson,’ this tour vividly underscores her steadfast commitment to harnessing her influence for positive social change and the promotion of sexual health awareness among the youth.

Yvonne Nelson was joined by fellow actors Prince David Osei, Solomon Fixon Owoo, and a medical practitioner Dr. Sussie Ankuh.

The actress’ compelling address fervently urged students to prioritize their health and future by embracing abstinence as a valid choice.

She passionately emphasized that refraining from sexual activity substantially reduces the risks of STIs and unplanned pregnancies.

Simultaneously, she encouraged them to channel their energies into education, personal growth, and the pursuit of their aspirations.

Industry luminary Prince David Osei also graced the platform, adding his voice to the crucial discussion. With fervor, he implored students to remain vigilant and report instances of inappropriate behavior, particularly when faced with potential exploitation from older individuals.

Dr. Sussie Ankuh, an accomplished expert in sexual health, delivered an enlightening exposition on various types of Sexually Transmitted Infections and their potential dangers. Her insights resonated with Yvonne’s message of abstinence, reiterating that education should stand as their paramount focus during this pivotal phase of their lives.

As the event drew to a close, students wholeheartedly expressed their gratitude for Yvonne’s visit, underlining the pivotal role of candid discussions within the educational setting. In a heartwarming gesture, both Yvonne and Prince David took the time to sign autographs and capture memorable moments in photographs with the students, further solidifying the lasting impact of their visit.

Undoubtedly, the resonance of this initiative is destined to extend far beyond this moment. Yvonne Nelson and her esteemed team have pledged to return for an upcoming session with the school’s acting club, a direct response to a heartfelt request from school officials.
