One-constituency, one-ambulance takes off in 2019 – Prez assures

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has indicated that beginning next year, every constituency in the country will get an ambulance each. According to the President, the provision of the ambulance forms part of efforts to satisfy infrastructural needs of constituencies. He disclosed this at a media encounter on Wednesday, December 19 at the Jubilee House. “I notice that there is room for constituency priority infrastructure needs, under which the constituencies pick what they identify as their priority need. “I believe there is a lesson in there for all of us by simply taking a look at the diversity of priority needs: community centres, police posts, street lights, and culverts.” “…process will enable every constituency to get one ambulance each in the early part of next year,” President Akufo-Addo stated. He said although the provision of these ambulances will not immediately solve the lack of adequate ambulance in the country, it is a sign of government’s commitment to finding a solution to the problem. Still stressing on improving the healthcare sector, President Akufo-Addo noted that government paid up the GH¢1.2 billion arrears inherited from the precious Government under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). He also spoke about the need to ensure that the health sector has capable and well equipped personnel to cater for the health needs of Ghanaians. “In all we do, we want to ensure that health officials are well-trained, reasonably content with their conditions, and are able to practice their profession, so we can all have the confidence to entrust our lives into their hands.” “The prosperity we seek for our people can only be attained when our people are healthy,” President Akufo-Addo said.
