Covid-19 deaths rise to 561 in Ghana

Within 24 hours, 19 Covid-19 deaths have been recorded in Ghana.

In double updates released by the Disease Surveillance Department (DSD) of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the deaths rose from 542 to 555, and then to 561.

Given the quick updates, a total of 1,256 new cases were recorded, taking the cumulative total since the outbreak of the disease to 77,748.

This update is up to Saturday, February 13.

There are 86 severe cases and 29 critical ones as 7,866 patients battle the deadly viral disease.

So far, a total of 69,321 persons have either recovered or been discharged.

Ghana’s positivity rate from enhanced contact tracing is currently the highest, at 11.4 per cent. This is followed by routine surveillance with a positivity rate of 10.9 per cent and international travellers with a positivity rate of 0.7 per cent.

Meanwhile, the Service has issued a national alert to regional health directors over the re-emergence of Ebola in the sub-region.
