Completion of stalled health facilities in Ashanti Region: Asantehene assures of intervention

The Asantehene has assured that he will intervene to ensure the completion of stalled hospital projects in the Ashanti Region.

This was after Otumfuo Osei Tutu II inspected the state of work on some health facilities including the Regional Hospital at Sewuah.

The 290-bed capacity hospital is fully completed but yet to be operational due to power challenge and road accessibility.

“When we are able to get the electricity connected, then we can test the machines and also do user-training. Then we can talk to the contractor to hand over the project for use. A transformer has been fixed in the facility for the past six months but yet to be connected. The road network to the hospital is also in a bad shape and needs to be fixed”, Ashanti Regional Health Director, Dr Emmanuel Tinkorang explained to the Asantehene.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who inspected the facility was unhappy that it’s been left non-operational for such a long time.

He assured to intervene in making the facility functional to lessen the burden of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

“The Asantehene has given us his word that he will talk to the necessary authorities just to make sure the facility becomes operational. Komfo Anokye is currently doing renovation and that is going to put a lot of constraints on the health delivery in Ashanti region, so the earlier we make this facility operational the better for us all”, Dr Tinkorang noted.

The Asantehene also inspected some ongoing and stalled projects at the Manhyia district hospital.

The expansion of a maternity block has been completed by the Otumfuo Charity Foundation.
