Bawumia asked for prayers for the president, First Lady, Chief of Staff and all ministers[/caption]
Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia joined the congregation of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) in Abossey Okai, Accra to thank God for a successful medical leave in the UK.
Dr Bawumia returned to Ghana on Thursday, February 1, having spent 12 days in London after being taken ill.
He was flown to Europe on the advice of his doctors.
On Sunday, when he attended church at ICGC’s Christ Temple, he said he was healed purely by the prayers of Ghanaians.
“I believe that the hand of God healed me,” he told the gathering, among them some government functionaries led by Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo.
He asked for continuous prayers but, more importantly, asked the congregation “to pray for my boss”.
He said the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, needed prayers just like his wife, First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the Chief of Staff, Frema Opare-Osei, and all ministers.
‘Chief nurse’
Dr Bawumia said he was really touched by the tonnes of prayers said for him by Ghanaians of varying religious backgrounds.
A stout Moslem, Dr Bawumia has already been to mosque to thank Allah.

He personally expressed gratitude to the head pastor of ICGC, Pastor Mensa Otabil.
“He is really a great man of God and you just have to see what he does to truly know that this man is a gift to Ghana.”
He recounted how his late father was a staunch listener to Pastor Otabil’s sermons, though he was also a devout Muslim.
He expressed appreciation to his wife, Samira, whom he described as the “chief nurse” during his period of hospitalization.
Even though there were nurses, he revealed, she was by his bedside, ensuring that he really rested.
Dr Bawumia resumed work the next day he touched down in Accra.
