Hafiz Konkoni handed late Black Stars call-up for Madagascar clash

Bechem United striker Hafiz Konkoni has been invited to join the Black Stars for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar.

Konkoni is the first local player to be called up by coach Chris Hughton.

With Konkoni’s addition, the total number of players in the squad has increased to 25, as Ghana looks to secure a victory and a spot in next year’s tournament in Ivory Coast.

Konkoni joins the team after a great season in which he scored 15 goals in 26 appearances for Bechem United, who competed for the Ghana Premier League, which was eventually won by Medeama.

The match between Ghana and Madagascar is scheduled for Sunday, June 18, 2023, in Antananarivo. The team will begin training on Monday, June 12.
