Ghana-based Green Sports Academy has congratulated Isaac Dogboe on his win over Joet Gonzalez.
The former world champion beat the American on a split decision on Saturday in Hinckley, Minnesota.
One judge scored it 96-94 for Gonzalez, but that was overruled by Dogboe’s twin scores of 96-94.
With the win, Dogboe, a former 122-pound champion, has become the top contender for Rey Vargas’ 126-pound title.
In a statement signed by General Manager Ernest Buamah, Green Sports Academy said; “Dogboe has demonstrated that a hero’s downfall is not the end of his or her career.”
“Your quest to become a world champion is getting closer; you continue to be a shining icon for this generation, and we hold you in high regard.”
