Kumasi Asante Kotoko took top spot in the Ghana Premier League after an impressive 2-0 victory against Berekum Chelsea last weekend at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
The Porcupine Warriors have been very impressive under new coach Mariano Barretto and they will be looking to continue their good form against second-placed Accra Great Olympics.
The Dade Boys who lost their position at the top of the league to Kotoko last week, will be looking for better a performance than what they were able to muster in a poor 2-0 loss to Legon Cities last weekend.
With the two teams only separated by a single point, this is set up to be a very exciting match.
Hot on the heels of the top two clubs is Karela United. The league leaders for a majority of the early part of the season, Karela have slipped into third-place after recording just two wins in their last 5 games.
They will be coming up against a Dreams FC side that have got just 4 points out of the last 15 available and will looking to recover and begin to move up the table once again.
The Theatre of Dreams will play host to this game and Dreams will hope that home advantage can help give them the edge in this one.
Accra Hearts of Oak, coming off the back of a disappointing 1-0 loss to Ashantigold last week, will welcome Inter Allies to the Accra Sports Stadium in this weekend’s round of matches.
The Phobians are still only 4 points away from Asante Kotoko in first place and they will be aiming for the three points in this fixture to get their title challenge back on track.
Inter Allies last on the table, still have a lot to do. They lie bottom of the league, 6 points from safety. Goals from Suleman Nafui and Samuel Armah gave them a big victory against Karela United last week and they will present a tricky challenge for the Phobians as the two face off on Sunday.
Another interesting encounter will take place in Techiman, with Eleven Wonders welcoming Liberty Professionals later this weekend.
The two teams are separated by 4 points and Liberty Professionals will be full of confidence in their ability to make it just 1 point in the wake of their 4-0 thumping of Elmina Sharks last week.
Eleven Wonders are still feeling the absence of Salifu Ibrahim after his transfer to Hearts of Oak but Ignatius Fosu will look to rally his troops and get a positive result against Liberty Professionals.
Ahmed Toure will be looking to carry his decent form into Medeama’s next clash against Legon Cities. Toure was decisive for Medeama in their last fixture against Dreams FC at home. The test will be a difficult one this week as well though, as Medeama come up against a resurgent Legon Cities FC side.
WAFA continued their impressive home form last week, thanks to a Lawrence Agyekum strike that gave them all three points against Bechem United. However, they will be on the road this week, as they travel to the Nduom Sports Complex to face Elmina Sharks on Saturday.
Aduana Stars will be on a high following their confident 3-1 win against King Faisal last week. Benjamin Tweneboah will be key for them as they eye the three points against Bechem United this weekend. Aduana Stars could go level on points with fourth-placed Hearts of Oak after this round of matches.
Ashantigold are in a very tricky position going into this weekend’s round of action. A win could take them as high as 6th place while a loss could see them in 12th position.
They will be hoping to beat a struggling King Faisal side who they travel to face on Saturday.
Berekum Chelsea and Ebusua Dwarfs will clash in another fascinating encounter this weekend. The two sides have the same number of points going into the weekend’s fixtures and this may give us a tense affair at the Golden City Park this weekend.
Berekum Chelsea will need to bounce back from a disappointing loss to Asante Kotoko while Ebusua Dwarfs will seek to build on the point they gained last week against Eleven Wonders.
