GPL: Kotoko record first win of season

December 12, 2020

Kumasi Asante Kotoko beat Legon Cities 1-0 to claim their first win of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season.

Kwame Poku and Emmanuel Keyekeh came close to opening the scoring in the first 10 minutes, but two decent saves from Fatau Dauda kept the scoreline level.

Kotoko went ahead in the 11th minute through Ibrahim Osman, who connected to a low cross from Godfred Asiamah to make it 1-0.

Legon Cities had their own share of chances, Raphael Ocloo, David Cudjoe and Joseph Adjei missing those decent opportunities.

Veteran forward Asamoah Gyan was introduced on in the 60th minute, replacing Ocloo but his presence could not bring a goal for the Royals, who are struggling for goals.

Kotoko nearly made it 2-0 in the 83rd minute when Emmanuel Gyamfi after a quick free kick found himself in a one-on-one situation with Fatau Dauda but he failed to beat the experienced goalie.

Asante Kotoko held on their early lead and won the game by a lone goal to secure their first win in three games after drawing their opening two games.

Legon Cities FC on the other hand are winless in five games and have conceded five goals, losing two games with three drawn matches so far.
