GPL: Kotoko beat Dwarfs to maintain unbeaten away form

Kumasi Asante Kotoko maintained their unbeaten run in away games this season after beating Ebusua Dwarfs 1-0 at the Cape Coast sports stadium earlier today.

The game was supposed to be played on Matchday 7 but was postponed because of Kotoko’s participation in the CAF Champions League.

Kotoko head coach Johnson Smith made a single change to the side that drew to WAFA at Sogakope Park in Week 9. Habib Mohammed replaced Muniru Sulley in the holding midfield possition.

Asante Kotoko dominated the first 45 minutes and created numerous goalscoring opportunities but Ebusua Dwarfs Goalkeeper Razak Issah denied them on all occasions.

Fabio Gama was brought down and the Porcupine Warriors were awarded a freekick around the Dwarfs 18 yard box just at the stroke of halftime, Emmanuel Sarkodie’s kick went wayward.

Kotoko continued from where they left off in the first half and had great scoring opportunities but none could cross the line.

Head coach Johnson Smith initiated his first his substitution; Fabio Gama made way for Naby Keita.

The only goal of the game was scored by Christopher Nettey on the 71st minutes. He headed home from Emmanuel Sarkodie’s freekick to hand Kotoko all three points.

Dwarfs pressured in the closing stages of the game and won infringements at dangerous positions but resolute Razak Abalora stood on his feet to ensure Kotoko get all three points.

The win takes Kotoko third on the league log with 16 points and will play Aduana Stars next.
