Ghana’s Covid-19 deaths surpass 500

The death rate in Ghana’s coronavirus case count appears to be on a sharp rise as 11 new fatalities have been recorded.

So far, the country’s cumulative cases since the outbreak of the disease on Thursday, March 12, 2020 are 74,347 with 66,333 recoveries.

The cumulative number of cases rose to over 74,000 after 790 cases were recorded between Friday, February 5 and Monday, February 8.

This leaves the active cases at 7,509 including 109 severe cases and 28 critical cases.

The deaths are currently 505.

It is expected that the vaccines for the disease will reach the country next month, as promised by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his 23rd televised address.

Before then, citizens have been advised to take the safety protocols of handwashing, social distancing and wearing of nose masks more seriously.

Those without nose masks would be arrested, the Executive Instrument (EI) states.
