Ghana has been adjudged as host of the next World Trade Promotion Organisations (WTPO) Conference in 2020. Ghana submitted a bid to beat the September 26, 2018 deadline to be considered as host for the biennial conference. The announcement was made at the just-ended 12th conference in Paris, France. Ghana made a five-to-eight minute presentation at the conference to be considered as next hosts. The WTPO Conference was first held in 1996 in Cartegena in Colombia and has since been held every two years, though the 2006 edition was shifted to the following year. Africa has hosted it twice, both in Marrakech, Morocco. As a result, Accra will be the first city in Sub-Sahara to host the conference, which brings together organisations that promote international trade and investment. Meanwhile, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) was awarded at the Paris conference in the Best Use of Information Technology. GEPA’s Market Hub beat Switzerland’s Cleantech CUBE to the award. GEPA’s Chief Executive Officer Afua Asabea Asare was also appointed onto the Advisory Board of the International Trade Center’s Executive Director Arancha Gonzalez. Source: 3news.com|Ghana]]>
