Ghana have won the bid to host the 13th edition of the All Africa Games.
The Pan-African Games is a quadrennial multi-sport event under the auspices of the Africa Union, organised to foster unity among member countries.
Ghana’s bid was confirmed on Thursday, October 25.
The 12th edition is scheduled to be held in Casablanca, Morocco in 2019.
Ghana thus have five more years to prepare to host the Games, which will feature 33 disciplines including athletics, football, boxing, badminton, gymnastics and taekwondo.
The country last hosted a multi-sport event in 2012 when it hosted the Ecowas Games in Accra.
The country’s capital city is highly likely to host the 2023 Games.
The first edition was held in Brazzaville, Congo in 1965.
