Ghana Gas installs backup compressor for Atuabo plant

Ghana Gas Company has installed a second overhead compressor to serve as a backup anytime the Atuabo processing plant is shut down for mandatory maintenance work. The Ghana Gas company has been experiencing intermittent shut down in operations due to mandated maintenance after every 4,000 hours of operation. In early January of 2016, the Ghana National Gas Company started the construction of a second standard overhead compressor unit. This was to prevent a shutdown of the plant during routine maintenance. The installation of the second compressor has ensured uninterrupted operations. The nine million dollar project is funded from the company’s internally generated funds. Ghana Gas Company says the building of the second standard overhead compressor unit has been completed and has started operations. Chief Executive Officer of Ghana gas company, Dr. Benjamin Asante is optimistic of efficient gas supply when the He disclosed regular shutdown of the gas plant for routine maintenance work had financial implications on the Company, as it is often not able to condense and transport lean gas to the Volta River Authority for power generation.
