The Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) has dismissed a supposed gazetted results of the December 7 elections making rounds on social media.
“The document is not authentic and should be disregarded,” the EC emphasised in a statement on Thursday, December 24.
According to the statement, the gazetted results of the 2020 Parliamentary Elections can only be obtained by purchase at the Assembly Press in Accra.
“The General Public should not place any premium on the document circulating on social media since it is false.
“This is calculated to mislead the public and discredit the Commission.”
Supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been demonstrating against the results of the elections, claiming the EC schemed to deny the party a working majority.

As a result, when reports of the results of the elections being gazetted came out, supporters attempted to march to the Assembly Press.
But police and military deployment was effected to guard the building.
It is unclear what the NDC supporters were going to the Assembly Press to do.
