Royal Foam Factory in Asokore Mampong in the Ashanti Region was gutted by fire Friday evening.
The inferno is said to have started around 5:00pm and it took fire fighters well over three hours to bring it under control.
Our Ashanti Region correspondent, Ibrahim Abubakar, reported officers from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) dispatched to the scene found it a tall order to control the situation as there was no water hydrant in the area.
About seven fire tenders were, however, spotted at the scene, 3news.com‘s correspondent said.
Ibrahim Abubakar reported that two of the officers had to have water poured on them, apparently after getting near the flames.
The cause was not known but it is said to have started at the production section of the factory and spread to the stores.
It was worsened because the stores contained the chemicals for production.
