Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) and working with the Tolls and Routes Management Limited have announced their intention to embark on a peaceful demonstration on Tuesday, September 14.
The demonstration in Accra is to drum home their demands for improvement in working conditions for all PLWDs at tollbooths in Ghana.
Notifying the Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service, the Disabled Toll Workers said the protest will start from the 37 Military Hospital at 9:00am.
“It is in the interest of justice that the unfair treatment of persons with disabilities at the various tollbooths should be condemned.
“The demonstration will be peaceful and to ensure orderly procession, Covid-19 protocols will be observed and so all protesters will be masked.”
They will present a petition to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House before proceeding to the Ministry of Roads and Highways to present another one to the sector minister.
“We kindly request you to organise for the necessary security arrangements to ensure the safety of all leaders who will participate in the demonstration,” the notice to the Command concluded.
