NIA to register 2.8M Ghanaian in Ashanti Region

The National Identification Authority (NIA) is targeting to register 2.8 million Ghanaian residents in Ashanti Region for the Ghana Card. It will from December 11 deploy 15,000 staff to man 833 centres to be created for the registration exercise which will run until to January 8, 2020

Executive Secretary of the NIA, Prof Ken Agyemang Attafuah announced this at a press briefing at Ejisu ahead of the exercise. He said the Authority has since its mass registration exercise registered 4,857,845 Ghanaians in the 11 regions it has undertaken the exercise. Out of the figure, the NIA has printed 4,291,840 cards but issued 2,695,478 cards Prof Attafuah encouraged eligible Ghanaians in the Region to take advantage of the exercise and get their Ghana Card to enjoy the benefits that comes with it.
