The Minority in Parliament claims leadership and members learned about the recall of lawmakers in the media “just like anyone else”.

The caucus insinuated, therefore, that it was not officially informed about the decision.

Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin per Order 42(3) of the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana asked all members of the legislature (MPs) to reconvene on Tuesday, May 2.

The notice of recall from recess was issued on Thursday, April 20.

The parliamentarians are being recalled to consider an “urgent parliamentary business”.

But in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday, Minority Leader Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson said he was later informed that the move is to consider loan agreements.

“It is difficult to comprehend why the NPP government has the courage to continue borrowing, especially after its reckless borrowing has completely destroyed the Ghanaian economy beyond recognition for generations to come.

“This government will never learn.”

According to 3news.com sources, the loan agreements to be considered during the one-day sitting are $60 million additional funding for the Ghana Covid-19 Emergency Preparedness and Response Project, $150 million for the West Africa Food System Resilience Programme and €170 million for the sustainability of the Development Bank, Ghana (DBG).
