Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed condolences to the Royal Family of Great Britain on the passing of its longest-reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.

Queen Elizabeth II passed peacefully at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland Thursday afternoon. She was 96 and had reigned for more than seven decades.

Taking to his official Facebook page, Mr Mahama expressed how sad he was to hear about the passing of the queen.

She carried her royal duties with grace, poise and dignity,” he posted.

He further stated that Queen Elizabeth II was not only an icon of pride for the British but also the Commonwealth, which expanded under her reign.

“Our hearts go out to King Charles III and the Royal Family.

“May God grant her peaceful repose.”
