A former Minster for Lands and Natural Resources, Lawyer Inusah Fuseini has said that that it is bizarre for the current Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor to appoint his former deputy, Benito Owusu Bio as advisor after the latter was reshuffled out of government.

The comment comes barely 24 hours after a letter dated the 15th of February emerged from Mr. Jinapor’s office asking his former deputy to accept a job offer as an advisor on Special Projects.

The letter stated “As you may be aware, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has, since 2021, embarked on a number of special projects aimed at efficient protection, utilization and management of the lands and natural resources of our country, as well as secure the well-being of our people. These, among others, include the National Alternative Employment and Livelihood Programme (NAELP).”

The letter further said that the job would not be renumerated.

But, in an interview with Beatrice Adu on 3FM’s Midday News, Mr Fuseini said he doubts the offer is for any proper job at the Ministry.

“ It is even bizarre….he’s using the backdoor and it lends credence to the perception that Owusu Bio has an unfinished business over there and Abu Jinapor is bringing him back to continue his business…the Minister has advisors on implementing the government’s business…..for you to bring him back when again, you have the Minerals Commission…it beats my mind what Abu wants him to do there apart from superintend over his businesses, private interest.”

Mr. Fuseini did not state what private business he believes Owusu Bio would be engaged in at the Ministry, but alleged the offer is not for the job stated in the letter since the Minister already has advisors who help him implement government policies.
