High Court

The High Court Building, Accra

An Accra High Court hearing the financial loss suit against former Deputy Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson and a businessman, Richard Jakpa has dismissed applications including an order of mistrial and stay of proceedings filed by the accused persons in the matter.

The accused persons had presented an audio recording purporting the Attorney-General allegedly coaching the third accused Richard Jakpa to help implicate the Minority Leader Ato Forson.

Presiding judge Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe who dismissed the application however, advised the Attorney-General to recuse himself from the prosecution going forward in order to protect the judicial process and gain the confidence of the public.

Below are the full rulings and reasoning of the court:

Ruling on application by Richard Jakpa (A3).

Ruling on mistrial application by Ato Forson (A1).
