Explosion: Remain calm as we manage the situation – Police

The Police has assured that it is managing the situation of an explosion in Apenti, a community near Bogoso in the Western Region.

A statement by the Police on Thursday Janury 20 said “Emergency Public Notice!A huge explosion occurred this afternoon, Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Apiate between Bogoso and Bawdie in the Western Region.

“The Police and other emergency service providers have activated a full emergency recovery exercise. We urge all to remain calm as we manage this unfortunate situation.”

An eye witnesses has recounted his experience regarding that explosion in Apenti.

In his narration, he said human bodies were mutilated, buildings and other structures were completely destroyed following the explosion.

“It is as if we are in a war torn country,” he said.

Rescue efforts have been intensified following the incident.

The Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has confirmed that several people have died Francis Abeiku Yankah said the explosion in Apenti near Bogoso in the Western Region ripped through a community.

He confirmed on TV3 Thursday January 20 that several people have died following the explosion.
