Appiatse: First phase of rebuilding to be completed by June 5 – Engineers

The first phase of the reconstruction of Appiatse, near Bogoso, in the Western Region is expected to be completed by June 5 this year.

This was made known by engineers on Wednesday, January 4 following a tour of the construction site by the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor.

About 106 out of 124 units are under construction with 30 percent of work done, engineers told the Minister.

The town was hit by a dynamite explosion on Thursday, January 20, 2022, leaving most of it in ruins.

The disaster occurred on Thursday, January 20, 2022

Mr Abu Jinapor, who expressed satisfaction with work done so far, assured that measures have been put in place to ensure that disasters of such nature do not recur.

He said so far the findings of the committee set up to look into the disaster are being implemented.

“The Minerals Commission has since been implementing the findings and recommendations of that committee strictly and I should say that by  and large the measures that have been adopted are protective enough.”
