Akufo-Addo attends US-Africa Leaders’ Summit

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has left Ghana for the US for the US-Africa Leaders’ Summit.

President Akufo-Addo left Ghana on Sunday, December 11, leading the country’s delegation to the Summit, which is at the invitation of US President Joe Biden.

The Summit is expected to “demonstrate the United States’ enduring commitment to Africa, and will underscore the importance of U.S.-Africa relations and increased cooperation on shared global priorities”.

According to a statement from the Presidency, President Akufo-Addo was accompanied by First Lady Rebecca, Minister for Foreign Affairs Shirley Ayorkor Botchey, Minister for Trade and Industry Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Minister for Works and Housing Francis Asenso Boakye, Minister of Environment, Science Technology and Innovation Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, and officials of the Presidency and Foreign Ministry.

They are expected to return to Ghana on Saturday, December 17.

“In his absence, the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, shall, in accordance with Article 60(8) of the Constitution, act in his stead.”
