Ex-officers present petition to Parliament over pension

Dozens of ex-military officers marched to Parliament on Thursday, July 30 to present a petition to the Speaker, Edward Doe Adjaho, over their pensions.

According to the officers – made up of the 1978 to 1983 intake group – the computation of their pension gratuity was not done under the Single Spine Pay Policy approved for the Ghana Armed Forces in June, 2010 as they were compulsorily retired in November that same year.

They said by using the old method to compute their pensions, the Forces Pay Office underpaid them.

They claim efforts to get authorities at the Armed Forces to address their concerns have proven futile.

They were met at the Parliament House by the Chairman of the Defense Committee, Frtiz Baffour, who received their petition on behalf of the Speaker.
