Former Ghanaian international goalkeeper, Joe Carr, has expressed disappointment over the exclusion of George Owu from the senior national team, the Black Stars.
He condemned the practice where players considered to be old are exempted from playing for the national team, indicating that goalkeepers get better as they age, hence Owu ought to have been called to the Black Stars team.
Joe Carr played for the Black Stars between 1978-1984.
He told Connect FM in Takoradi that the former Asante Kotoko and Hasaacas goalie who now plays for Ashanti Gold, can stand the Ethiopian squad boot for boot in their June 11 AFCON 2019 qualifiers on June 11.
“I have agitated a lot of times for Owu’s inclusion into the team but my effort has always been in vain,” he said.
Ahead of the June 11 game, the Black Stars under their new coach Kwasi Appiah, have started a non-residential training in Accra.
