As part of its commitment to supporting girl child education, Stanbic Bank has donated GH¢50,000 to Dabala Senior High Technical School (Dastec) in the Volta Region.

The donation was made towards building a 10-seater washroom facility for the girls’ dormitory.

This will help address the issue of overcrowding and create a more sanitary environment for the students.

Head of Transactional Products & Services at Stanbic Bank Ghana Musah Abdallah presented the cheque to the Headmistress of the school.

He explained the banks motivation for the donation to the school.

He said, “At Stanbic we always say that Africa is our home and we drive her growth. As such we are always ready and committed to contributing to the success of our nation and the continent as a whole. It is impossible to drive growth without paying attention to the education sector. As we continue to celebrate women, it is befitting to contribute to girl child education by supporting this school with a modern toilet facility for the female students.”

He added, “It is our goal that at the end of the day, this donation will go on to help the young ladies to stay healthy and focus on getting the best out of their education. This way, they stand a better chance of competing with their fellow male colleagues and breaking the bias.”

The Headmistress of Dastec, Rose Nyawutor, received the cheque on behalf of the school.

She expressed her gratitude to the bank for their donation and their commitment towards the building project.

She said, “Stanbic Bank has given us 50,000 cedis to build a proper washroom facility for our girls. We are very grateful to them for this donation. As leaders of this school, our priority is to ensure that our students are well taken care off so that they can excel academically. We are grateful to Stanbic for starting this project for us as we know they will remain with us till it is completed.”

One of the female students also thanked the bank for their donation.

She stated, “Initially some of us female students had to wake up very early to use the washroom in the basic school nearby because we did not have adequate toilet facilities. We say thank you to Stanbic Bank for thinking about us and coming here to support us. God bless you.”

Stanbic Bank Ghana has over the years shown strong commitment to supporting young girls with critical initiatives that enhance their experiences with the aim of helping them achieve their dreams in life.

To mark this year’s International Women’s Day, the bank donated educational materials to female students of the Ogbojo Presbyterian Junior High School at Madina, Accra.

Stanbic Bank also donated GH¢100, 000 to support the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education for girls in the Appiatse community.
