COCOBOD CEO Joseph Aidoo met with the farmers in Ellembelle

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board, Joseph Boahen Aidoo, has called on cocoa farmers to embrace the Cocoa Hand Pollination programme as a means of increasing their production.

Mr Aidoo said another intervention, which is expected to increase yield, is being piloted. It

This intervention, irrigation, will be replicated on most cocoa farms.

Mr Aidoo made the statement on Monday when he paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Anyinase in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.

Nana Antwi Panin VI used the occasion to appeal to the COCOBOD CEO to supply enough cocoa inputs to the farmers in order to increase their yields.

He expressed the need for COCOBOD to build a lot more cocoa depots to store the high volumes of cocoa that the area produces.

Mr Aidoo and his team inspected some cocoa roads project sites and some farms in the District and surrounding communities.

He later addressed cocoa farmers at a forum at Boinso, where the farmers expressed worry at the bad roads in the area.

The bad roads, they complained, hinder cocoa evacuation.
