Multiple-time Presidential Candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC) Dr Edward Nasigre Mahama and General Secretary Janet Asana Nabla were on Thursday, December 15 invited by the Accra Regional Police Command to aid in investigations.
This follows a petition filed by 2020 Presidential Candidate of the party, David Apasera.
In the petition, Mr Apasera, a former Member of Parliament, chronicled how some fake men in the name of being National Security operatives accosted him and attempted to seize his Toyota Land Cruiser.
“I resisted their demands because the vehicle which was in my possession doesn’t belong and has never belonged to Mahama as claimed.”
He narrated how the situation got murky, forcing the Cantonments Police to lock up the vehicle until Dr Mahama came with the legal documents.
“The following week on 22nd November, 2022, at about 10am, the parties including myself, Dr Edward Mahama, and Ms Janet Nabla with the exception of the three (3) purported National Security Operatives were invited to a meeting with the Cantonments Police Commander.
“In the said meeting, Dr Edward Mahama stated that the car in my possession was his, adding that he together with Janet Nabla instructed the three (3)purported National Security Operatives to intercept me and confiscate the car from me wherever they may find me.
“The Cantonments police commander decided that the car should be parked at their premises for further investigations to be carried out as Dr Edward Nasigrie Mahama could not produce any tangible documents to support his claim to the car.”
The two -Dr Mahama and Ms Nabla – were thus summoned.
A statement issued by the PNC urged the police to swiftly “in order to bring the culprits and all their agents to book”.
“We are also appealing to the Police as a matter of urgency and necessity, to provide security escort to our current Leader, Hon David Apasera for the time being, since his life and that of his family are under threat.”
