EC trains TV3 news staff

The Electoral Commission has taken TV 3’s news staff through its operations in a training workshop organized in Accra. The workshop was also to educate the station’s broadcast journalists on the effective discharge of their duties during the 2012 Elections.

The facilitator was the Principal Public Relations Officer of the Commission, Sylvia Annor.

She took reporters through the Commission’s work, from opening of nominations for presidential and parliamentary candidates through printing of the ballot papers to declaration of results.

She also outlined the need for journalists to be observant and particular in declaring results of the elections.

“There is a difference between provisional results and certified results,” she said, “and journalists must make it clear that their results are provisional.”

She also took the journalists through some electoral jargons.

Present were TV3’s Chief Executive Officer Kweku Ofosu Asare and Managing News Editor Robert Kyere.
