Three persons identified as students of Adeiso Presbyterian Senior High School died on the spot after the motorbike they were riding was rammed into by a passenger mini-bus on the Adeiso-Asamankese road in the Eastern Region.
The accident happened on Sunday, March 21.
The passenger bus with registration number GC 1516-19 was heading to Accra from Akim Oda.
But on reaching Tommy, a suburb of Adeiso, according to a police situational report, the bus collided head-on with the motorbike with registration number M-20-GR 6731.
The motorbike was being ridden by 19-year-old Gideon Shia and had his mates – Richmond Kwakye, 19, and Ricahrd Amuzu, 18 – as pillion riders.
Some of the passengers on board the vehicle sustained injuries and were taken to the Adeiso Health Centre and the Nsawam Government Hospital for treatment.
“The bodies of three students were deposited at Nsawam Government Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy,” the police report said.
Separately, another accident involving two motorbikes occurred at Begoro in the Eastern Region same day.
Two persons died with one receiving emergency treatment at the Begoro District Hospital.
