Women from Doba in the Kasena-Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region have said they did not flee the area during the renewed conflict between their community and Kandiga on Monday, May 23.

A statement co-signed by the Women Leader, Cecilia Ayawine and their spokesperson, Vivian Anafo, explained the circumstances under which they left Doba to Navrongo township.

According to the women, they went to the Navoro Pio to lodge a formal complaint for him to ensure peace prevails between Doba and Kandiga since he is the Paramount Chief of Navrongo Traditional Area where Doba falls under.

They added that per their customs and tradition, “women are not part of wars hence there was no need for us to flee”.
