The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare has told Ghanaians to develop security mindsets as they go about their normal day-to-day functions.
He lamented the lack of security mindsets among most Ghanaians.
Dr Dampare said these when he delivered a lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Thursday August 11.
“We should individually have security mindsets, we don’t have it,” the Police Chief said.
He added “We have totally outsourced our security to somebody else and minding our own business. That is why all your economic text books, security was never an issue.
“All factors of production, you never saw security until recently when people are doing the analyses between socio economic development and security.”
He further told the gathering that the Police are servants and will continue to provide the service to the people.
“We are employees of yours that is why we are called public servants, anytime you see the word servant you must be looking for the master, you [public] are the masters.
“So if your masters say they are not happy with you and you are servant, you want to keep your job, what do you do? You must produce something special,” he said.
