Dery, Ayisi Addo sue CJ, AG and 5 others

Embattled High Court judges Paul Uuter Dery and Gilbert Ayisi Addo have filed a suit at the Supreme Court to restrain authorities from putting them on half salaries and ridding them of all allowances as part of punitive measures due to the exposé by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

The Judicial Council on the instructions of the Chief Justice had written to the two accused high court judges last week, communicating a decision to cut all their allowances except rent and put them on half salaries.

But a suit against the Council, the Chief Justice, the Attorney General, the Controller and Accountant General, the Judicial Secretary and Judicial Service’s Finance Director and Paymaster demands a 14-day ultimatum to staunch implementation of the two decisions.

“The plaintiffs bring this action as citizens of Ghana and justices of superior court.”

The two are among 12 high court judges cited and sighted in Anas’ petition and exposé respectively.
