Residents of Airport Ridge, a suburb of Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western Region, have expressed grave concerns about an abandoned story building occupied by squatters in the area.
The weak story building, which was meant for a hotel, has been abandoned by the owner for several years now.
The owner of the structure, 3news.com gathers is outside the country, with the structure currently being occupied by some squatters.
A section of the structure, including some pillars has collapsed.
What remains are the beams with the remaining pillars just being supported by weak iron rods.
The structure is sited close to the main walkway of some households in the area and residents are now afraid to use the road.
A concerned resident, Maame Esi Gyaabah, who spoke to 3news.com said the building is gradually being reduced to rubble and the situation is especially bad when it rains.
She disclosed that most of the squatters have left the building except two men.
She says attempts to get the authorities to forestall a looming disaster have proved unsuccessful.
