Information reaching tv3network.com also has it that the judge who is currently serving a suspension with 21 others has also sued Aljazeera, one of the leading media agencies in the Dubai and Africa.
His latest suit, the third in succession indicates that he wants the individuals named in the suit to be convicted and punished because they have disregarded the court and justice system in the country.
Others joined to the suit which was filed on Friday September 18, 2015 and cited by tv3network.com include Tiger Eye PI, through its Chief Executive Officer, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, as the 1st respondent, the Acting Editor-In-Chief of The New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Samuel Frempong and Ernest Addo, Deputy Editor-In-Chief of the same paper.
According to the suit the above named persons “caused to be published on various media platforms, transcripts of the audio visual recordings he has unlawfully procured in support of his bribery allegations against him.”
In the suit, Justice Dery also alleged that the Editor in Chief of the New Crusading Guide and his deputy, Bola Ray, Sulemana Braimah of Media Foundation for West Africa has placed on their Facebook pages that there will be a public screening of the said audio visual recordings at the Accra International Conference Centre on the 22nd and 23rd of September, 2015.
He said “the Respondents have also evinced a further intention of overreaching this Court by publishing the said audio visual recordings on international media platforms such as Aljazeera Television Network, and other social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook and WhatsApp.”
Judge Dery further added that “the substantive editor-in-chief of The New Crusading Guide have evinced a clear intention to continually bring the administration of justice into disrepute when he stated in an interview with Joy Fm, an Accra based radio station on 17th September, 2015 as follows:
“Can anybody place an injunction on the sky? We are in the world of technology. Can any court stop people from seeing something in the sky? Can anybody injunct the international media when it is not emanating from the person you are litigating against?
“Respondents’ conduct is calculated to bring the authority and administration of the law into disrespect and disregard and to interfere in any way with the course of justice” and that “the Respondents act of publishing the said transcripts and portions of the audio visual recordings seek to prejudice the fair trial of the case and that singular act amounts to contempt of Court”.
Meanwhile the 5 member committee set up the look into the expose has suspended sitting till September 25, 2015 following an injunction petition filed against them. They are awaiting the court’s decision after which they would know their next line of action.
