Chinese gov’t committed to supporting education in Ghana – Ambassador

The Chinese government has reaffirmed its resolve to support the development of education in Ghana.

This reaffirmation was made by Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Shi Ting Wang who noted that the move is geared towards national development and strengthening the friendship between the two nations.

Shi Ting Wang said this while speaking at a ceremony to present 50 set of computers and its accessories to the New Oxford International School at Afful Nkwanta, a suburb of Kumasi.

The Chinese Ambassador attributed China’s development to the importance it attached to quality education.

“Chinese Government has over the years been attaching great importance to education and mobilizing enormous resources to the education sector. This significant factor brought about the tremendous development in China recently.”

Shi Ting Wang said the Chinese Government intends to support Ghana to replicate same, thus, its resolve to assist the country improve the education sector.

“China is committed towards supporting the Ghana government to develop the education sector to cultivate more talents and break the bottlenecks of human resources shortage in Ghana”.

Headmaster of New Oxford School, Emmanuel Boa-Amponsem, was grateful to the Chinese Ambassador for the timely intervention.

He said, most of their computers are currently not functioning and this is affecting effective ICT education.

“Most of the over 40 computers we are using for ICT education are not fully functioning. The situation was affecting ICT education. With the presentation of these new computers to the school, we are optimistic that ICT lessons will improve.”

The items presented to the school included 50 computer sets, 20 printers, and 20 UPS.
